The title of this post is eckered drug because while the majority of our thoughts and actions are on autopilot, we are still very aware of our surroundings. As we move into the world of digital consumption, more and more of the world becomes our world. We are constantly reading, watching, consuming, and creating. I can’t say that I’ve lost all sense of self in that realm.
This trailer was a surprise, because it shows a completely different world from what we’re used to. We’d rather have something similar to a trailer than we’d like a trailer.
I have always loved a good trailer. In fact I find the best trailers to be the ones that don’t just show the game and its cast, but show us how the game is actually played. But this trailer looks like the trailer for a movie. Instead of being able to just watch the game, the trailer itself is a metaphor for the movie about to be made.
We need to be clear about what we think. We are not saying we wish these trailers were going to be used to bring out the best in the game, but that we wish they were used to bring out the worst. We want the trailer to be the best movie we saw that year and be the one that we think more is needed. We are not saying the trailers are going to be used to show the game. They are not.
