How much stress do you feel? If you’re like me, you probably feel like shit when you’re under the stress of a difficult work project or a challenging relationship. I know I did a week ago when I had to do a lot of cleaning and sorting to make my apartment look “polished” and “finished.” This was a tough week, and I didn’t feel like myself.
It’s likely that lazarus perceived stress has more to do with your perception of how stressful your current job or relationship is than with how you feel about it. It’s a function of a person’s ability to get used to the stress. People with a low degree of perceived stress can handle most of the stress in their lives. Those with a higher degree of perceived stress can handle less stress than those with a lower degree of perceived stress.
I would think the same thing would really be true for lazarus perceived stress. We don’t think of lazarus stress as a function of our perception of lazarus. We think of it as a function of lazarus ability to handle stress.
We’re not talking about lazarus, we’re talking about the stress.
Another issue is that the perceived stress of a person can change over time. For example, if I was stress-less today, I might worry about it tomorrow, even though I am stress-less today. This is called the Lazarus Effect.
This kind of thing happens a lot in other areas of life. For example, the stress of running a marathon can change your perception of running a marathon. So if you go to the marathon, you might think it’s stress-free, even though you aren’t.
But if you were stress-free today, you might think its stress-free tomorrow, even though you are stress-free today.
The Lazarus Effect occurs in many areas of our day-to-day lives. For example, if I was stress-less today, I might worry about it tomorrow, even though I am stress-less today. This is called the Lazarus Effect.
The Lazarus Effect is one of the most common ways that people believe stress has changed their perception of stress and vice versa. If you want to know why the Lazarus Effect exists, then read my article on it.
That’s why I believe that lazarus stress is a function of your lazarus perception of stress. For example, if I’m stressed right now, I would think I’m stressed because I have a negative attitude, so I might think I’m stressed because my lazarus perception is negative. But if I’m stressed, I think I’m stressed because I’m stressed out, so I might think I’m stressed because my lazarus perception is negative.
