Marijuana is more of a problem in the northern part of the Netherlands, so this is probably a good place to start. In Maastricht, Amsterdam, and the Hague, the Netherlands, cannabis is illegal. The main reason of course, is to prevent the black market from flourishing. The black market is a way to get the stuff for personal use, or to make more money for a larger amount of people. The Netherlands has about 600,000 registered cannabis shops.
As you can imagine, the Dutch government has a pretty strict policy. They will arrest you if you are caught with any cannabis product, even if it’s not for personal use. However, if you are caught with 100 grams of cannabis, and ask to be released, you will be arrested. If you are caught with 30 grams, you will probably be arrested. You will be placed in a holding cell, and given a chance to plead your case in front of a judge.
If you are caught with 1g of weed, you’ll most likely be arrested and charged with “criminal possession of a class B substance.” If you are caught with 200g, you’ll most likely be charged with “criminal possession of a class C substance.” If you are caught with 500g, you’ll most likely be charged with “criminal possession of a class D substance.” If you are caught with 10 grams, you will most likely be charged with “criminal possession of a class C substance.
The difference between the classes is the amount of THC in the substance. Class B, C, and D are usually referred to as “low,” “moderate,” and “high” marijuana because the amount of THC in them is usually lower than in class B, C, and D. Class D usually refers to marijuana that is so high in THC that it’s not considered legal.
Marijuana is a class D substance. That means that if you find 10 grams in a bag of 50, it would be considered a class D substance. However you do not have to find a bag of 50, it is just a factor in how much you are charged with. When a bag of 50 is found, it is considered a class B substance. If a bag of 50 is not found, it is considered a class C substance.
Class D is also a category of substance that is illegal for personal use (like alcohol). As for marijuana, it is a class C substance. When you get a bag of 50, it is considered a class C substance. You are not supposed to use a bag of 50. You are only supposed to find a bag of 50 and you are allowed to use that.
